"The International Baccalaureate Diploma Program has not only amplified my understanding of things, but also it has broadened my awareness of both the deprivation and the exquisiteness of the world around me. Beyond that, I would give my most dignified salutation to the assurance that we embody the I.B. learner’s profile, conviction that other people with their differences can also be right."

Booklatin ang Kinabukasan Launched

Posted on March 10, 2010

The best gift that one can give to a child is the gift of learning.
Armed with the passion to address the decline in reading interests and literacy rates of school children, fourth year BS Nursing students of Southville International School and Colleges, under their Community Organizing Participatory Action Research (COPAR) subject, launched the “Booklatin ang Kinabukasan” Project which aims to promote literacy development through reading among the CAA Elementary School students in Las Piñas.
The project, in partnership with the Barangay BF International Officers and Council, Samahan ng Kabataang Baranggay (SKB) and the National Library, has been running for six months and has rehabilitated the internal and external structure of CAA public library which was closed for several months due to destruction caused by storm and flooding. The BS Nursing students themselves raised funds through entrepreneurial bazaars, conducted storytelling sessions with the students and have collected more than 700 books to be donated to the library.
