Educating a child is not limited to the four corners of a school. Education is much appreciated and valued, if it is shared.
Addressing fellow principals and some teachers from the different schools during the Abacus Mental Math Seminar/Workshop, Ms. Marie Vic Suarez, Southville International School and Colleges’ Preschool-Grade School Principal, highlighted the school leaders’ role not only in ensuring that the curriculum is being excellently delivered but at the same time, making it a point to be involved in projects that help build a community.
She emphasized, “One of the best ways to help build a community is to continue establishing partnership with institutions that have the same vision of being a catalyst for excellent education.” She added, “We recently sponsored a reading talk on Handling Children with Reading Difficulty for the LPDH Pediatric Society since they too have much to say with the development of the children.”
Other projects that are geared to community building include the One Run, One Community, a run for free election and the Adopt a Poor Urban Child (Po.U.Ch.) program.
