“When children are young, they are learning sponges. Every new experience, every word they learn, every behavior they adopt, is an investment in a more fruitful future.”- Viki Palmer
Southville International School and Colleges (SISC) recently welcomed their students and parents for the pre-launching of the STAR Learning Village, held at the Southville Star Campus. The STAR Learning Village is made for children, ages 2 – 5 to learn in an environment where they can explore, discover, and play.
The Learning Village was founded on a concept that our brains can grow, intelligence is greatly influenced by the environment, and much of the brain growth happens during the ages of zero to five.
Inherited intelligence can increase in early childhood and at the ages of 4 and5, the heritability of intelligence due to genetics is approximated to be 0.22 (similar to 22%) with other factors such as culture, parental care, and environment playing large roles.
Early Education programs focused on cognitive stimulation in children can have dramatic effects on later academic success. Intelligence can be both heritable and malleable which means it is influenced by both genetic and environmental factors.
At the SGEN Learning Village, we help children grow their brain by providing important skill building practices and get kids learning in their natural environment through real-life play rather than digital screens.
