SISC College of Nursing’s 20th Candle Lighting & Dedication Ceremony: Two Decades of Commitment and Purpose

The College of Nursing recently celebrated a remarkable milestone with its 20th Candle Lighting and Dedication Ceremony, an event that holds deep significance for second-year students of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program. This solemn and symbolic tradition marks their transition into a more advanced phase of their nursing education.
The ceremony commenced with the Pinning Ceremony, a revered rite of passage that formally recognizes students who have completed the foundational requirements and are now prepared to begin their clinical training. This was followed by the Candle Lighting Ceremony, a time-honored tradition representing the students’ commitment to the core values of the nursing profession—compassion, care, and service. Adding depth and inspiration to the event, were heartfelt messages from Dr. Liza P Jimenez, Chairperson of the College, and Tomoya Takenoshita, a recent graduate. Both speakers emphasized the profound responsibility that comes with the nursing profession, while highlighting the transformative power of kindness and compassion in making a meaningful impact on patients’ lives.
A highlight of the ceremony was the heartfelt performance of the Batch Song, which captured the essence of their chosen batch name, “Qui Levént,” meaning “Those Who Lift.” The name reflects the students’ spirit of resilience, their unwavering determination, and their shared pursuit of excellence.
Through events like this, the SISC College of Nursing reaffirms its enduring commitment to developing globally competitive nurses, equipped not only with essential skills and knowledge, but also with the heart and humanity that define truly exceptional care—no matter where in the world they may serve.
