In its efforts to provide students with relevant and excellent nursing education, the SISC College of Nursing Faculty Development Program partnered with the Training Division of St. Luke’s Medical Center – Global City for a week of Clinical Enhancement activities on May 19-23, 2014.
Six faculty members headed by Ms Liza Jimenez, RN, MAP, MAN (BSN Program Coordinator) participated in the sessions last May 19-23, 2014. Recognizing the Clinical Instructors’ key role as educator, SISC sought to provide them with the opportunities to enhance their clinical competencies to be in the best position to guide BSN students’ learning both in the classroom and at the patient’s bedside. The ultimate goal was to keep the nursing instructors current and relevant in their practice of nursing by immersing in the varied clinical areas of St. Luke’s Medical Center.
Ms. Astrid De Leon, RN, MAP, PGCE, a full time Lecturer and Clinical Instructor who participated, claims, “It was a very fruitful experience for me, technology in the hospital system was a significant factor that brought about many exciting improvements. However, the bottom-line remains… the delivery of safe and competent care.”
Ms. Grace Fe Tomas, RN MAP, PGCE who also joined the group, said that she was so happy and proud to encounter several of SISC nursing graduates who are now employed as registered nurses performing very well in varied specialty areas in St. Luke’s Medical Center.
