It was laughter and learning rolled into one as the Grade 2 students of Southville International School and Colleges (SISC) participated in the 2011 National Children’s Book Reading Day held in SM South Mall Event Center last July 19, 2011. The same event was held simultaneously in 41 SM Malls nationwide, including SM Xiamen, Jinjiang, and Chengdu in China.
SISC students together with other kids from Las Piñas schools enjoyed the story telling by different partner representatives, including Southville teacher Ms. Laurice Saflor, and actress-dancer Ms. Regine Tolentino. They were amazed by the stories entitled, “The Monkey and the Tortoise”, “Isa, Dalawa, Tatlo”, “Bahaghari”, and “Mga Laruang Papel”. Tricks from street magicians and dance numbers from the ballet students of SISC in partnership with ACTS Manila entertained the audience in between the story telling activity.
The said event was made possible through the initiatives of Ms. Beth Sullano, SISC Coordinator for Grades 1 and 2, Class Advisers Teacher Anna and Teacher Lea, and Ms. Candy de Luzuriaga of the SISC Public Relations Department.
