Nursing Students 100% All Aboard!

July 27, 2016 – Southville’s Multi-Purpose Hall was once again filled with 100 percent attendance of BSN students as the College of Nursing held its 1st BSN Lecture Series for AY 2016-2017.

The program featured a lecture presentation on the Australian model of Emergent Care of Clients with Maladaptive Behavior by guest resource speaker Ms. Jam T. Javellana, RN. Nurse Jam is a Southville-BSN alumna from Class 2010. She now works in a highly specialized unit adjunct to the state-of-the-art Emergency Department complex of the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney, Australia.

The session brought awareness to the scope of nursing practice of psychiatry in an emergency room setting. Nurse Jam’s sharing of actual patient encounters enriched everyone’s knowledge in the application of psychiatric nursing care principles and opened a new-found interest for the students.

The same day served as the BSN Grand Mentoring Day for the College of Nursing, where record-breaking 100 percent mentoring target was achieved. Mentors Ms. Astrid de Leon, Ms. Liza Jimenez, Ms. Grace Fe Tomas, Ms. Sen Calma, Dr. Clyde Rebadulla and Dean Carmel Villegas lend their support and guidance to the aspiring BSN students.

The entire day’s activity was a manifestation of a strong, cohesive and committed group of nursing students who live by their mantra: 100 percent All Aboard Excellence!
