Dr. Marl Ferenal, Southville International School and Colleges (SISC) president was a recipient of a prestigious scholarship from the Asian Productivity Organization (APO) through the auspices of the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP) to attend a workshop in Jakarta, Indonesia from May 16 to 19, 2016. The workshop covered issues aimed at strengthening educational institutions offering Productivity Courses and Programs attended by representatives from the seventeen (17) member countries of APO.
Dr. Ferenal presented a country paper highlighting the impact of national productivity organization, DAP, to the Philippine industry by improving the competitiveness of the workforce. The paper also featured SISC’s best practices in productivity, which includes the offering of Total Quality Management (TQM) as a core course in the Business Related Programs, and the institution’s adoption of productivity principles in the organizational culture. SISC adopts the Baldrige Business Excellence Framework and conforms to ISO 9001 Quality Management standards. Southville is a champion of productivity among the educational institutions in the Philippines. The productivity programs such as ISO 9001, TQM and 5S have been institutionalized by SISC since year 2000 and has included these as mandatory core competencies of employees. Dr. Ferenal has committed to support DAP in disseminating productivity among educational institutions, starting with the Consortium of the South Schools where he is the former chairman.
