SISC alumna ranks 4th in nursing board

Southville International School and Colleges (SISC) High School Class 2010 alumna Katrina Geronimo placed 4th in the June 2014 Nurse Licensure Examination from 30,000 examinees all over the Philippines.
A consistent gold and values excellence awardee in SISC, Katrina entered high school at a young age and struggled trying to figure out what she wanted to take in college.
“I chose the medical field because in terms of personality and abilities, I felt that was the best choice. I don’t have regrets choosing my field but I’m not closing any door. Life is a never ending, winding road,” said Katrina.
Katrina never expected to make it to the Top 4, only wanting to pass the exam. She shared, “The thought of ‘board topnotcher’ was nice but the main point of the Philippine Nurse Licensure Exam was to test your knowledge and skills in order to get your professional license. That’s what it was about and that was what I aimed for: to pass and to get my license. To this day, I’m still pretty shaken up. Sometimes, I still think about me being a topnotcher and shake my head in disbelief. It’s an honor and a gift greater than what I bargained for.”
A founding member of SISC’s Orchestra Club and former Sports Editor of the school organ, The Mover, Katrina advises fellow SISC students and alumni to take everything as a learning experience. “Use every moment of your life to seize the day, and whichever path you take—may it be small or big decisions in your life—never regret it. Most often than not, no matter how lost we get, we’ll find our way through that winding road. Keep pushing. Perhaps you’ll go back a bit then move forward, but as long as you aim to push all the way through, you’ll get there.”
Katrina, being a Cum Laude, a scholar in UST and a Dean’s Lister for two and a half years, is a testament to SISC’s strong commitment to produce students who will excel in higher education joining the likes of Gino Santos (Top 6, Physical Therapy Licensure Examination) and Magna Cum Laude graduates Hanna Tongo (Menlo College, USA) and Sean Borja (Ateneo de Manila University).
SISC is really happy for its alumni who have gone a long way after their graduation. SISC knows with their discipline and dedication, plus application of the 5Cs (Competence, Character, Collaboration, Creativity, Commitment to achieve), they will all make it big.
