Students from Southville International School and Colleges (SISC) were named recipients of top certificates in the 2014 International Competitions and Assessments for Schools (ICAS) – Mathematics Assessment conducted by Educational Assessment Australia. The competition is participated in by more than twenty countries from Asia, Africa, Europe, and America.
Gen Mark Tanno of the International Baccalaureate (IB) and Jeremie Keon Torralba of Gr. 4 – Humility were awarded the High Distinction Certificate given to the top 1% of the takers in their level. Gwyneth Tangog of Gr. 5 – Righteousness, Terence Patrick Cabana of Gr. 6 – Perseverance, Kim Jeong Hoo and Kim Eun Seo of Gr. 7 – Resilience, Christian Joseph Papa of Gr. 8 – Integrity, Andrei Merino and Hannah Trisha Gail Uy of Gr. 11 – Competence, and Miguel Angelo Villar of IB received the Distinction Certificate for belonging in the next 10% of the takers in their level. Yoo Myung Jun of Gr. 4 – Humility, Mary Ashley Tong and Antwone Ong of Gr. 5 – Righteousness, Yoon Chang Min of Gr. 6 – Perseverance and Hong Jee Seung of Gr.10 – Commitment were given the Credit Certificates for being in the next 20% of the entrants in their level.
The ICAS – Mathematics Assessment tests the participants’ skills and knowledge in algebra and patterns, data and statistics, measures and units, number and arithmetic, and space and geometry. The SISC awardees won for their performance relative to other students worldwide of the same year level.
