Southville International School and Colleges (SISC) International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme students for Academic Year 2012 – 2013 were warmly welcomed by the IB officers and instructors spearheaded by SISC IB Coordinator, Ms. Marie Anne Mirando.

The students were given a glimpse of the two-year IB programme, governed by the Swiss-based International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO), that requires IB students to take advanced classes in six subjects, become proficient in a second language, do volunteer work, and undertake original research that results in a 4,000-word essay. They must also satisfy rigorous assessment criteria in all IB subjects before receiving the IB diploma. The students got more excited when they learned that IB Diploma graduates have the chance to skip first year college subjects. The programme ensures that its graduates meet international education standards since the IB Diploma is recognized as one of the world’s most prestigious recognitions of academic excellence and student dedication.

SISC’s IB Programme will host the IB New Parents and Guardians Orientation on September 8, 2012, 9:00 am, at the Multi-Purpose Hall of Tropical Campus. The orientation is for parents and guardians who want to know more about the IB Diploma Program, and the benefits it offers to student. The orientation will also include SISC students talking about their experiences in the IB program, and a question and answer session for parents and guardians.
