Out of 115 teams from various colleges and universities, Southville International School and Colleges ranked 17th in the StockXChallenge as of Week 5 of the competition. Dubbed as “The Ultimate Game of Online Stock Trading and Investment”, the tournament started on December 1, 2010 and will end at the close of trading hours on February 28, 2011. Each registered team is given an initial virtual capital of Php 10 million as their online play money.
Ten college students represent SISC namely Marc Oñate (BS Tourism), Lemuel Calmerin (BSBA HRM), Anna Czarinna Fernandez (BSBA HRM), John Joshua Romero (BSBA HRM), Ma. Johora Galvez (BSBA Marketing), Jessica Toniza (BSBA HRM), Mabelle Mercado (BSBA HRM), Ma. Gerlie Montellano (BSBA HRM), Gabrielle Huldong (BSBA HRM), and James Tan (BSBA Marketing).
Apart from the competition, participants attended a series of seminars to enhance their skills in making investment and trading decisions. The stock trading tournament is organized by First Metro Investment Corporation with subsidiaries First Metro Asset Management, Inc. and First Metro Securities Brokerage Corporation, the Philippine Stock Exchange, and the Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines.
