Celebrated Artists Join the Roster of SISC Multimedia Arts Faculty



Southville International School and Colleges’ quest for quality education continues with the hiring of two new award-winning faculty members for Multimedia Arts.

 

Ms. Rica Arevalo, whose film Ganap na Babae won an award for excellence in cinematography in the recently concluded Soho International Film Festival will be teaching Film Appreciation and Video Production to the Multimedia Arts students.  Ms. Arevalo finished her bachelor’s degree at the De La Salle University with a degree in Communication Arts and her master’s degree Communication Management form the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila.

Masscomm Students Join Blued Project



Seven Mass Communication students of Southville International School and Colleges joined The Blued Project, an inter-university design and marketing contest in search of Blued Clothing’s very first Stylepreneurs. They were Jahdiel Abigail Mae Gay, Clarissa Jean Torres, Monica Diaz, Nicollo Ramon Alessandro Lopez, Mary Camille Arce, Jaresa Felipe, and Bernard Lomibao.

Participants were asked to come up with an Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC) campaign on how to promote the brand, and a design proposal for the clothing line. Other contenders are students from Colegio de San Juan de Letran, Lyceum of the Philippines University, and University of Sto.Tomas.

Southville Invites Students for its Science Week



Southville International School and Colleges (SISC), together with the Philippine Foundation for Science and Technology, cordially invites grade school and high school students to participate in its forthcoming Science Week on March 1-4, 2011.
The first day of the weeklong program will feature a lecture forum in Biology and the opening of the interactive Science Exhibit provided by the Philippine Foundation for Science and Technology. The exhibition comprises of twenty attractions including a Van De Graff Generator. Expert tour guides will explain the underlying scientific principles behind these exhibits.

Southville Represents Philippines in UN Simulation



Five High School students from Southville International School and Colleges (SISC) joined more than 200 delegates from 40 schools around the world at Georgetown University – School of Foreign Service’s 6th Model United Nations (MUN) conference held last February 3-6, 2011 at Doha, Qatar. The meet provided an unparalleled educational experience for talented secondary school students as they learned about international institutions and the democratic political process through an exciting role-playing experience.

Cancellation of Classes due to Typhoon Juan



The Department of Education (DepEd) NCR has suspended afternoon classes in Metro Manila from preschool to high school in both private and public schools upon the recommendation of National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council or NDRMMC. The following schedule will then be followed:

BoA joins SISC’s 20th Anniversary Celebration



The dialogue with the Board of Advisers (BoA) and the blessing of its office was one of the highlights during the celebration of Southville International School and Colleges (SISC) 20th Foundation Anniversary last September 15, 2010. The occasion was graced by no less than the distinguished members of the Board of Advisers who are respected leaders of various industries.

Understanding Multi-culturalism Key to Better World



Dressed in their national costumes with hearts filled with much enthusiasm and joy, Southville International School and Colleges (SISC) International Baccalaureate (IB) 2 students were further given the challenge to use their education to reach out to people and help build a better world during the 5th Commencement Exercises held June 5, 2010 with Mr. Allan Farlin, Principal of Faith Academy in Mindanao, giving the keynote address.
With 26 years of teaching experience, Mr. Farlin shared words of wisdom to the graduates and talked about multi-culturalism and understanding with the theme “Sharing our Humanity.”

DOST Lauds Southville Stude



Southville’s pride Timothy Gabriel Alarcon, a grade five student, is set to receive the coveted Youth Excellence in Science (YES) Award of the Department of Science and Technology-Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) tomorrow at the PHIVOLCS Auditorium at UP Diliman.

Winning in the 2009 China Primary Math Olympiad held in Tianjin, China last August, Timothy qualified for the YES Award, an award given to Math and Science Whizzes from elementary to collegiate students across the country who won in international Science and Mathematics competitions.

Typhoon Ondoy News Flash



Classes are suspended for all levels until Oct. 3, 2009 but the school is open for business.  All SISC part time and full time employees are hereby required to report for work.  Flexi-time may be observed by part time instructors.  Uniform policy applies.
