Southville IT Students Learn About Joomla



The College of Information Technology of Southville International School and Colleges (SISC) recently hosted a forum on Joomla, a dynamic portal engine and content management system. The guest speaker was Ernesto Boydon, an IT expert, Internet marketer, web hosting specialist, and author of the book “Website Building with Joomla”.

The said activity enhanced the skills of IT students as they learned how to build their own web pages in a matter of minutes with the use of Joomla. [Read more]

Southville Alumnus’ Film Wins in Global Fest



A short feature by Juan Paulo Reyes of High School Batch 2009 of Southville International School and Colleges (SISC) was chosen as the winner in the Family Category of an international film competition organized by the Tony Blair Faith Foundation (TBFF).

 

With the theme “Let Me Show You How My Faith Inspires Me,” Reyes wrote, directed and edited the film First Steps to Recovery. It was a simple yet inspiring story of a little boy with big faith.

Southville Nursing Students Conduct Community Diagnosis



Second year BS Nursing students of Southville International School and Colleges (SISC) concluded their 2-month community diagnosis last September 2, 2011 with the theme “Panibagong Kaisipan, Panibagong Buhay”. The activity was held at SISC’s adopted community, Barangay CAA Phase 4.

 

The goal of the outreach activity was to improve the living conditions of community members through positive impact in health behavior. It consisted of health education classes for children and adults, wound cleaning, BP taking and consultation, and feeding of 900 participants.

Southville Guidance Head Joins Australia Counselors Mission



As part of the international linkage program of Southville International School and Colleges (SISC), Head of Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) College Division, Belen L. Mandin, joined the Austrade Counselors Mission held recently. The team composed of six counselors and heads of schools from the Philippines and six others from Indonesia visited fifteen schools in Sydney and Brisbane, Australia.

Gavagan Gears Up for Miss Philippines Earth 2011



Michelle Gavagan, a Mass Communication student of Southville International School and Colleges (SISC), and reigning Miss Southville 2010, is an early crowd favorite in the Miss Philippines Earth 2011 beauty pageant.  Representing Las Piñas City, she bested 49 other lovely candidates to win the Ms. Golden Sunset Special Award in the preliminary competition held at Golden Sunset Resort, Calatagan, Batangas.

Parent-Teacher Conference Set on January 28



The Parent-Teacher Conference (PTC) is an opportune time for parents to meet their children’s class advisers and sponsors who act as their guardians in school.  For the second term, PTCs are scheduled on January 28, 2011 from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm in Elizalde, Munich and Luxembourg campuses of Southville International School and Colleges. Four members of the SISC Class of 2000 and 2001 are set to join the medical profession as they recently passed the Physician Licensure Examination. American Anthropologist Updates on Perinatal HIV/Aids



“ The humanistic approach of creating a warm, supportive and welcoming environment of care by the medical workers is a major factor in encouraging patients with HIV-AIDS to come out in the open and be treated.”  

This was shared by BS Nursing (BSN) Batch 2013 student, Karyl Gebeck, after participating in the first Nursing Development Program of the College of Nursing that featured HIV-AIDS research expert, Dr. Jessica Scott Jerome.  Dr. Jerome’s latest work on “Perinatal HIV/AIDS in Brazil and the US: Human Rights Based Approach to Health Policy”  was presented to around three hundred BSN and BS Psychology

Southville Studes Conferred Microsoft Certification



One year prior to graduation, Third Year BS Information Technology students of Southville International School and Colleges (SISC) are already highly qualified Microsoft Certified Professionals specializing in the implementation and maintenance of Microsoft Databases (SQL Server 2005) after achieving a 100% passing rate for the Microsoft Certification exam held last month. Two students got a 100% passing rate while majority received more than 90% passing rate.
