Southville Offers Animation, Ballet for Worthwhile Weekend Programs



Worthwhile Weekend Programs (WWP) are part of Southville International School and Colleges’ enrichment activities for its students and other interested parties. Learning extends beyond the four walls of the classroom as participants get to be taught a new knowledge or skill.

The Portfolio Assessment for Southville International School and Colleges Students (P.A.S.S.) is a distinguishing feature of the school that aims to hone the students’ critical thinking skills as well as to develop their innate desire to explore answers to questions they have about themselves, their community, or their environment.

Dressed in a simple yet elegant white gown, Michelle Gavagan was made more beautiful by a red, fiery crown during the Miss Philippines Earth 2011 pageant. Indeed, she had gone a real long way from being Miss Southville International School and Colleges (SISC) 2010. In her first pageant outside school, she bagged the Miss Philippines-Fire title.

Southville Alumna Shines in Binibining Pilipinas 2011



Queenierich Rehman made waves in the 2011 Binibining Pilipinas pageant as she joined the cut of 15 semi-finalists out of 40 candidates in the Grand Coronation Night held last April 10 at the Araneta Coliseum with live telecast in ABS-CBN Channel 2. With her elegant bearing and attractive body proportions, she was also hailed as Best in Swimsuit.

Alarcon, Masias receive JAPI Recognition



Southville International School and Colleges junior students Nathan Adriel Alarcon and Rene Mark Steven Masias received the most sought Junior Achievement of the Philippines Inc. (JAPI) Medal Award during the 42nd JAPI Awards Night held last March 30, 2011.

Nathan and Steven’s business plan for a multi-purpose banana extract spray that works as shoe polisher, metal cleaner, deodorizer, and sanitizer was among the twelve finalists in the first-ever FedEx/Junior Achievement International Trade Challenge. The students’ business plan bested around a hundred entries in the competition.

Blued Clothing Project Names SISC its First Champion



Southville International School and Colleges (SISC) emerged as Champion in the first ever Blued Project, a thesis-inspired, inter-university design and marketing contest. The SISC team was composed of Mass Communication students Jahdiel Abigail Mae Gay, Clarissa Jean Torres, Monica Diaz, Nicollo Ramon Alessandro Lopez, Mary Camille Arce, Jaresa Felipe, and Bernard Lomibao. Their Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC) plan, which re-branded Blued Clothing and focused on catering to the youth bracket, bested the teams of Lyceum of the Philippines University, Colegio de San Juan de Letran, and University of Sto.Tomas.

Southville Media Arts Students Hold External Exhibit



Media Arts students of Southville International School and Colleges (SISC) held an external exhibit last February 28 to March 2, 2011 at The Enterprise Center, Makati City. Dr. Genevieve Ledesma-Tan, SISC’s Chief Executive Mentor, graced the opening day and congratulated the students for initiating this pioneering affair..

Dubbed as “Timeless Exhibit”, the event featured the masterpieces of Michael Brion, Krizia Erika Parungao, Lawrence Antonio Viriña, Grace Adriano, and Michael Manansala. The art hall glimmered with the five multimedia artists’ portfolio of photography, designs, layouts, and demo reels.

US Work and Travel Applicants Get Approval



Five college students of Southville International School and Colleges were granted J1 visa* by the US State Department to participate in the US Spring Work and Travel Program starting March 4 to June 25, 2011. They are Kathleen Lorena (AB Mass Comm) who is assigned in Center on International Education Exchange in Portland; Loriza Delos Reyes and Kyoko Takeuchi (BSBA) in Cedar Point Amusement Park in Ohio; Megan Merrielle Delim (BS IT) in Kings Dominion in Virginia; Elizabeth Uyami (BSBA) in Bargain Beachwear in South Carolina and Ira Nicdao who is assigned in JW Marriott in Indianapolis.
