Through the years, the definition on what intelligence is has been on a broader scope. Human competencies are now based on more diverse combination of traditional and non-traditional intelligence including interpersonal, intrapersonal, musical, spatial, and kinesthetic that were long overlooked. Educational institutions especially international schools in the Philippines should find ways on how to apply these multiple intelligences in the classroom.

Southville partners with Center for Pop Music Philippines



Southville International School and Colleges (SISC) has successfully partnered with Center for Pop Music Philippines (CPMP), the country’s leading school for pop singing. CPMP’s Voice and Stage Performance classes will be part of Southville’s Worthwhile Weekend Programs held every Saturday commencing January 2016. Center for Pop will conduct the Voice and Stage Performance classes using the same training style and lessons that are taught in CPMP branches nationwide. The Voice and Stage Performance Training Program will cover Intro to Pop Singing, Stage Deportment and Discipline, and Intro to Stage Performance among others.

College Welcomes Students in General Assembly



The annual General Assembly for College students organized by the Office of Student Affairs was held last June 27, 2011 at the Luxembourg Gym. Similar to a welcome get-together, the assembly kicks off the academic year by gathering all college students for the orientation on discipline policies, student organizations, school programs, and campus security measures.

The event started with an unfreezing activity spearheaded by the Student Council and selected students. Southville Monarchs Bag an Award in International Science Camp



Six high school students from Southville International School and Colleges (SISC) participated in the Science Summer Camp 2016 held at the National University of Singapore (NUS) last July. The program intended to inculcate a life­long fascination for science as the participants engage NUS professors in lecture series, perform and-s­on workshops at state­-of­the-­art laboratories and visit highly specialized research labs.

Svetlana Riguera is the Champion of the 2015 International Writing Competition



Svetlana Riguera (IB-1) of Southville International School and Colleges emerged as the champion in the secondary school category of the International New York Times (INYT) Writing Competition 2015. The participants were asked to write an article on the topic of global education and the entries were judged by INYT’s award-winning newsroom.

The INYT Writing Competition began in 2009 in Hong Kong as part of INYT’s InEducation program, which encourages students to engage with current affairs and become globally-minded by reading the daily newspaper. In 2015, the competition was expanded to include all of Asia.

Southville’s Team ZikAway Wins Silver in PolyU Global Student Challenge 2017

Out of 189 international teams, Angelee Carandang, Celine Manese, Vanessa Muñoz and Prof. Jose Nestor Guevara of Team ZikAway from Southville International School and Colleges – College of Business, Entrepreneurship and Tourism (CBET), won the Silver Award at the PolyU Innovation & Entrepreneurship Global Student Challenge 2017 yesterday, June 29, 2017 in Hong Kong. Team ZikAway is the only Philippine team that advanced to the semis and finals.

Karatekas win big in inter-school tournament



The SISC Karatedo Team brought home gold, silver and bronze medals from the 2014 Luzon Inter-School Karate Kobudo Championship held last February 23.  The SISC karatekas finished with a medal tally of 8 gold, 5 silver, and 3 bronze against school and gyms from Bicol, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and the National Capital Region. Southville Holds 2nd Letras Y Pinturas Exhibit



Southville International School and Colleges’ Visual Arts Club held its 2nd Letras Y Pinturas Exhibit recently at the school’s Museum of the South.
The exhibit featured the different works of Basic Education students using different media such as oil, acrylic and watercolor with literature as inspiration.
“Literature is a source of inspiration for any artist. Our students can show that love for reading through visual arts,” states Leo de Mesa, moderator of the Visual Arts Club.
