Grade 10 student Gwyneth Margaux G. Tangog marked another victory at the China Girls Mathematical Olympiad (CGMO) – her fifth international competition to date, where she earned a silver medal. The CGMO was held from August 10 to 15 in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China. Prior to the competition, Gwyn spent her vacation attending summer training camps, which she found beneficial for her preparation. The SGEN Learning Village (LV) is grateful to see its little community rapidly grow as it finally turns a year old. This learning center is located at the heart of Elizalde in Parañaque City. Launched August 18, 2018 to kids 7 and below, LV started as a playhouse which has been developed as a play school. BS Psychology alumna, Kristine Burgos bagged several awards at the 2019 World Championship of Performing Arts (WCOPA). Kristine aced several singing categories such as WORLD (gold), LATIN (silver), R&B/JAZZ/SOUL (silver), GOSPEL (bronze), and ROCK (bronze). 26 schools from the country bet on their top contenders at the recently conducted World Scholar’s Cup (WSC) Manila Round II. The two-day event was hosted by Southville International School and Colleges (SISC) which remarkably bagged several awards in Yale at the WSC-Tournament of Champions last year. Constantine “Stan” Rivera graduated from the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme in Southville which brought him to local and international academic competitions … with World Scholar’s Cup (WSC) – Tournament of Champions 2018 as the last yet the most prestigious international competition he joined. The said competition was held in Yale University participated by 2,300 schools worldwide. Southville graduation ceremonies are always filled with an array of achievers who exemplified academic excellence recognized and celebrated by the school. This academic year, two exceptional homegrown Monarchs graced the event as they gave their respective messages to the graduates. One is a doctor, and the other one is an aspiring lawyer. These women have had a good scholastic foundation as Monarchs and furthered their level of excellence in their chosen fields. During the event, both expressed their gratitude to Southville and how its teachings still help them both in school, at work, and life in general.
Nearly fourteen (14) years of gradual becoming embodied with academic grit and distinctive grace, former non-english speaking student Hyo Sang Kwak recently completed her International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme with the Highest Honors at Southville International School and Colleges (SISC). Hyo Sang is a homegrown Monarch who started at junior prep. Hyo Sang is an only child and was raised in the Philippines. She is known by the nicknames “Hyo” and “4.0” (four point ohhh) referring to her GPA score. Hyo Sang impressively exemplified a Monarch’s grit and growth mindset through her impressive journey to top rank.
