Southville International School and Colleges’ (SISC) AB Communication second-year students are gearing up for their highly anticipated annual theater production. As part of their COMM150 Theater Production class, this year’s batch will be staging &Juliet, a modern reimagining of Shakespeare’s classic Romeo & Juliet, set to be performed in June 2025.

&Juliet explores the idea of an alternate ending where Juliet does not meet her tragic fate but instead goes on a journey of self-discovery, independence, and empowerment. Infused with pop music hits such as I Want It That Way, Baby One More Time, Larger Than Life, and a lot more, the play delivers a fresh take on love, identity, and rewriting one’s own story.

The production process has been in motion since the first semester, with students actively promoting their work and building excitement around the play. Auditions for cast members have been opened to all SISC students, regardless of their course, offering aspiring performers an opportunity to shine on stage. Additionally, students who wish to contribute behind the scenes can volunteer for various production roles through an open application form. To ensure a well-organized and professional production, the class has already assigned team roles, including scriptwriters, marketing heads, finance coordinators, and technical crew. Social media pages have been launched on Facebook (And Juliet – SISC), Instagram (@andjuliet_sisc), and TikTok (@andjuliet_sisc) to keep the community updated with exciting content, teasers, and behind-the-scenes footage. The organizers have even started engaging audiences with trending TikTok content to spark interest in the play.

SISC’s AB Communication Theater Production class has a tradition of bringing iconic stories to life, with previous performances including Grease and Mamma Mia! These productions have not only been a thrilling experience for the audience but have also given students firsthand exposure to the pre-production, production, and post-production aspects of theater.

With months of preparation ahead, the excitement continues to build for &Juliet.
