Southville Business Students Qualify for BIDA Awards

“It is with great joy that our team made it to the BIDA Awards. Our business model is something we are proud of.  Through contests like this, we are able to promote our advocacy of environmentalism and sustainability,” shares Joaquin Basilio Rodriguez and John Philip Crawford, Southville Business students in an interview.

Joaquin and John’s business paper made it to the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s 12th Search for the Best Business Idea and Development Award (BIDA) under the SERVICE Category. Their entry is  entitled DLVRD: ECO FRIENDLY BIKE COURIER SERVICES. The business provides courier services thru the use of bicycle, thus eliminating emission of carbon monoxide that pollute the air.

Their Coach, Ms. Minerva Janne Ganaden is elated about the students’ achievements. “I am really happy that my students’ hardwork have paid off. Being their coach gave a sense of fulfillment not only because I’ve trained them but more because we’ve shared the same passion and commitment in coming up with projects that create social impact.” Ms. Ganaden is a Southville homegrown student who graduated with honors with a degree in BS Entrepreneurship. She pursued her MBA at the University of Chester, UK.

Final judging of their papers will be on October 2, 2018 at the PCCI Office. The students will be defending their paper in front of the board of judges.

Dr. Victor Manabat, SISC Business Dean is positive that the students will nail the presentation. “I have high hopes for our students. They have put their hearts into this project.”

The students’ qualified work is a testament of SISC’s commitment to bring out the best in every student while developing their interest and passion.
