Southville International School and Colleges (SISC) has received accreditation for the maximum allowable duration of six years from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), USA.
“We are overflowing with joy that our commitment to the delivery of excellence in education is re-affirmed by our accreditors through another six years of accreditation,” shares Ms. Marie Vic Suarez, Principal.
WASC is the regional accrediting commission for schools in California, Hawaii, the Pacific Islands and East Asia. WASC is one of the six regional accrediting associations in the United States that assure the delivery of quality education. The members of the team are all trained educational experts in assessing schools, and they spent the week exploring every aspect of school life at SISC.
The mission of WASC is to assure that schools meet the standards of quality education while fostering continual improvement. In March 2018, SISC hosted a visiting evaluation team from WASC comprised of administrators and teachers from different parts of the world. The visit began with a meeting with members of the school’s WASC Leadership Team and various school committees, teachers, staff, students, and even parents. While SISC teachers and students engage in the learning process, visiting members of WASC observed the on-going classes.
In May 2018, WASC announced that it had granted a six-year accreditation term to SISC with a mid-term visit in 2021. The accreditation ensures that the school had been reviewed and critiqued to provide the highest-quality education to its students, and that it is recognized internationally as a distinguished school. Several home groups and focus groups had been formed to study, analyze and document
their efforts with regard to different aspects of school operation and education before the visit of the WASC members.
The accreditation from WASC is an important part of the guarantee of international standards offered by Southville.
