An abundance of fun and educational events will be offered by the SISC Libraries so students – Basic Education and College alike – can enjoy activities that stimulate imagination and creativity.
The ”Book-a-Librarian” service allows the participant to get, not just one-on-one assistance from the librarian, but also a free 30-minute appointment with a “sashed rover” who will sing the Dewey Decimal Classification Song, talk about the Wedding Dance, or tour the participant around the library. Wearing a distinctive sash, sashed rovers are available in the library to assist with general library and basic Internet and computer queries.
The library will also set up KOHA booths this January for library users to discover the new simple and clear interface for searching and reserving library materials. KOHA is a web-based library management system used by thousands of libraries worldwide. Watch out for the educational KOHA pop quizzes and surprises.
To increase library attendance and lending, a library raffle draw dubbed ”Every Monarch Reads A Book:Check Out A Book & Win A Prize” will run from January to March to encourage students to patronize SISC libraries by offering them a chance to win simple but unique prizes.
Also, a 90-day free trial of EBSCO Information Services e-journals, e-books and databases is being offered by the library until March 22, 2014.
