More than meeting new friends from other schools, SISC Girl Scouts from preschool to grade six exercised leadership skills and practiced social responsibility, during the International Friendship Day of the USA Girl Scouts Overseas-Manila Chapter held at International School Manila last November 21, 2009. Each Girl Scout was asked to bring a bucket of toiletries containing towel, body powder, toothbrush, comb, soap, shampoo and the likes, to be given to Girl Scout of the Philippines (GSP) troops in Pangasinan.
“It was fun and very exciting,” exclaimed Liana Palmiery of Grade 3 Peace, who only joined the Girl Scout because of her grandfather. “At first, I didn’t really want to join. My grandpa said I need to join because I’d learn a lot of things, and he is right. I really liked what we did especially the Dizzy Lizzy game.”
Apart from the games, the students enjoyed the Girl Scout tradition of exchanging their little keepsakes know as S.W.A.P.S. (Special Whatchamacallits Affectionately Pinned Somewhere) with the girls from the other troops. A Girl Scout Investiture will be held on December 5, 2009.
