MALACA (Mental ability, Academic achievement, Leadership, Athletics, Creativity, Arts) is Southville International School and Colleges’ (SISC) concept of student giftedness. Founded in 1990 as a school for the gifted, SISC has made a commitment to develop learners whose knowledge levels surpass that of their peers in other academic institutions.
To support this initiative, the Vision And Tasks (V.A.T.) Circles were formed to address the Mental Ability and Academic Achievement areas of MALACA. Students with high mental ability or achievement scores are grouped according to levels in the V.A.T. Circles, and are given special enrichment lessons in critical thinking, analysis, productivity, diligence, multiple intelligence, collaboration, and emotional intelligence. By taking on challenging tasks and activities, V.A.T. members get to enhance their higher-order thinking skills, leadership ability, productivity and self-directedness, intra/interpersonal sensitivity and creativity.
