Gen Mark Tanno, a Grade 10 student of Southville International School and Colleges, brought home a Merit Award and placed Second-Runner Up in the Team and Group Contests in th 2013 Bulgaria International Mathematics Competition (BIMC) held in Bugas, Bulgaria, last June 30 to July 5. Clad in our national clothing – the Barong Tagalog, he fronted the Philippine Team along with a fellow team member during the Parade of Nations.
Team PH emerged as victos in he said math battle, followed by Vietnam and Thailand. The country’s student delegates brought home with hem 5 gold, 7 silver and 10 bronze medals and 8 merit awards bth in the individual and team/group divisions plus 5 first-place trophies.
Five hundred ninety-three contestants from 29 countries faced-off eah other during the math meet: Bangladesh, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Cypus, Hong Kon, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Kazakhstan, Macau, Malaysia, Mexico, Mongolia, Nepal, Netherlands, Nigeria, Philippines, Romania, Rusia, South Afria, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, USA, Vietnam, Zimbabwe and South Korea.
