Southville’s College of Nursing has expanded its borders in the area of student research. Last February 20, 2015 two BSN research papers were accepted for presentation at the 8th MDCON Research Congress.

De Leon, RN MAP, PGCE, (2014). This group was awarded Best Research Poster during the in-campus College of Nursing Research Poster Competition held last December 2014.

Grit Factor And Cognitive Achievement, Clinical Performance, And Professional Aptitude Among Fourth Year Nursing Students Of SISC by Erika Banaban, Daniel Cabacoy, Katrina Catig, Alexandra del Rosario, Aries Ercia, Ma. Carmelita Villegas, RN, MAN, MAP (2014). The delegates to this year’s congress were the BSN III students who are now embarking on their actual thesis work. Selected senior students joined the group to be the presenters during the concurrent sessions.

The focus of the congress was on presenting research that is grounded on quality improvement strategies in support of evidence-based practice in nursing. This was expounded on by the keynote speaker Dr. Araceli O. Balabagno, who is Chairman of the Department of Research, Philippine Nurses Association. She happens to be also one of SISC’s distinguished Board of Adviser.

Kudos to the group as the research poster presented won 3rd place in the Best Research Poster Competition among 25 entries from colleges and universities nationwide.
